May Challenge: 22 Push-Ups Every Day #RoadToMurph

This week, we’re saying buh-bye to April Challenge (thanks for the running gainz) and HELLO to May.

This month, we’re continuing our #RoadToMurph preparations and honoring our service members along the way.

On May 1st, we’ll kick off our annual Murph fundraising (proceeds go to the St. Petersburg chapter of Team RWB) with a throwback to the 22 push-up challenge. Those 22 push-ups raise awareness for the disturbing statistic that 22 veterans die by suicide every day.

What does that mean for you? At the end of every class, you’ll gather with your WODmates to rep out 22 push-ups. Check out the video below for standards and scaling options.

Throughout the month, we’ll be accepting donations to Team RWB through our Murph Eventbrite Page.

You can take the fundraising aspect as far as you’d like. Here are some ideas:

  • Share the challenge (and your Murph preparation) on social media.
  • Encourage your friends and family to donate, or “sponsor” your Murph.
  • See if you can get donation commitments for reps completed or goal times.
  • Donate yourself!

Remind me…What’s Murph again? “Murph” is known as one of CrossFit’s hardest Hero WODs. It’s done in honor of fallen LT Michael P. Murphy, U.S. Navy, often on Memorial Day. (Read more about the life and service of LT Murphy here.)

For time:
1 mile Run
100 Pull-ups
200 Push-ups
300 Squats
1 mile Run

Partition the pull-ups, push-ups, and squats as needed. Start and finish with a mile run. If you’ve got a twenty pound vest or body armor, wear it.
